Chateau Margaux Premier Gran Cru classe 2004

$60.75 $83.23
This is a 1st Growth Chateau Margaux. The area surrounding the present Chateau Margaux was known from the 12th century when it was called La Mothe de Margaux, or the Margaux Mound. The middle of the 16th century marks the birth of Chateau Margaux as a notable producer of clairet wine. The owner, Pierre de Lestonnac restructured the property and favored vines to cereal growing. The 18th century brought fame to Chateau Margaux in England. 2004 is considered a good year, not as revered as the 2000 or 2009 but better than many Vintages of this esteemed Chateau. This year, flowering was rapid and fruit set perfectly successful, thus confirming forecasts of a generous harvest. Summer weather conditions were normal. At the end of August, the prospect of a great vintage became possible. September, hot and dry, was therefore decisive, as so often happens in Bordeaux. As a result, it allowed a regular and complete maturation of all the grape varieties.
