They will need a support structure like a moss pole or a piece of timber to thrive.From Vine to Vanilla: The journey from flower to cured vanilla bean is a rewarding one. The plant must be mature (typically 3 years) and large enough to flower. Allow it to recover from its journey in the original pot for a week before considering any change.Potting Medium & Support: Requires a very well-drained, coarse, and airy medium. Provide a sturdy support structure like a moss pole or timber stake immediately for the vine to climb.Position: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sun can scorch the leaves. It loves high humidity and warm temperatures, making it ideal for a heated greenhouse, sunroom, or a bright, steamy bathroom.Watering: Water when the top layer of the potting medium feels dry. It loves moisture but will rot if left sitting in water. Mist the leaves regularly to increase humidity.Feeding: Feed with a diluted, balanced orchid fertiliser during the active growing season (spring and summer).Additional NotesA Labour of Love: Growing vanilla beans is a long-term project but an incredibly fulfilling one.
