Aloe Vera PLANT – Untreated & Heirloom – Aloe vera barbadensis Miller – Yellow Flowering Edible PlantAloe vera barbadensis Miller – yellow flowering one, is an evergreen and easy-to-grow perennial plant with lots of health benefits and has many uses in traditional medicine. “Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids. (Surjushe et.al, 2008)” NOTE: Only this plant, the yellow-flowering one is edible. There are many ways of using this plant internally and externally. Just a few examples here:in smoothies (a small piece and just the gel) together with any fruit or veggies – great for the digestive systemin beauty productsfresh gel from the plant straight on the skin for dry skin and skin burnsmedicinal, make your own research before you use it as a medicinethe yellow blossoms are edible, tooAloe vera barbadensis Miller is an easy-to-grow plant, that loves the sun and half-shade, and little watering. It doesn’t like too fertile soil or wet feet. All my plants grow happily in raised garden beds. Even if it is just 15-20cm above the ground level, it makes a huge difference!Planting and growing tips:Give it a good drink and place it in a half-shade position out of the wind.Leave it in the original pot for a few days until it recovers from the journey.Re-pot or plant into the ground at the latest when the roots start to come out of the bottom holes.Watering straight after planting is essential! From then on as required.It doesn’t like to sit in water so a well-drained position is best. All our edibles grow happily and quickly in slightly raised garden beds.Aloe Vera grows best in the sun or half shade and in any type of soil, however, the better the soil, the quicker and better your plants will grow.Additional notes:The price is for one young plant supplied in a small pot, coming from my own Aloe Vera plant, naturally grown with love in my permaculture food forest in Pacific Haven QLD Australia.
